Dental education in Turkey consists of 5 years of
training in one of Turkey's 15 dental schools after which the graduates receive
a degree of D.D.S. The dental education is regulated by the Council of Higher
Education and the Ministry of Health.

dentistry operates.
The
Turkish Dental Association (TDA) –
This is the
central body responsible for monitoring the practice and professional
development of dentistry within Turkey. It has 33 dental chambers to regulate
dentistry at the local levels, spread across the country. The association is
also responsible for developing and updating the skills of its members by
offering continuing education courses. The TDA is a member of various
international dental organizations. All Turkish dentists must be part of the
TDA in order to practice dentistry in Turkey.

Students must study for five years in a Faculty of Dentistry before they become

After graduating from medical school students must take exams in order to become
a surgeon. Residency takes up to six and a half years.

Turkey and each clinic and hospital must meet the ministry’s standards and
requirements. The Turkish Medical Association is the Turkish equivalent to the
British Medical Association
